and stone floor restoration services
Does your process work on all wood floors? No. Our process will not work if your wood floors have stain missing, bare wood showing, severe large black or gray areas of discoloration from pet urine, water damage and plant stains. Also, our process will not address very deep scratches and significant differences in wood tone from the sides of your room compared to the center. In most cases, even sanding will not remedy some of these problems. Many times, new boards will have to be fashioned by a carpenter and the whole job will need to be re-sanded, stained and re-urethaned.
How long does your wood process take? Depending on the size of the area involved, it can take a few hours to a whole day.
What are the benefits
of your wood process compared to sanding? Since our exclusive process does not employ sanding , chemical abrasion
or the use of polyurethane, we absolutely guarantee you no dust or fumes
whatsoever. And unlike some un-proven methods
that take 24 to 72 hours to cure, our time
How To Choose A Wood Flooring Contractor
When choosing a wood flooring contractor, you should make sure they have at least 20 years experience with wood floors. And it wouldn't hurt to check their reputation with the Better Business Bureau or the consumer affairs division of your state attorney general's office. They should also be able to provide you with at least 50 real and current references. Also, the contractor should be willing to restore a small test area of your wood floor to for free to guarantee your complete satisfaction.
What Type Of Wood Flooring Contractors To Avoid
You should avoid contractors who
state that if their process turns your wood floors cloudy, or if they blotch or
peel, they will credit the amount you paid for their unproven process towards
a full-blown sanding job. Since these types of firms will not guarantee anything
in writing, they have nothing to lose.
But you lost time and money on the
first process that did not work. And now you're stuck with a
lousy job and the high
cost and inconvenience of sanding. So do your homework and choose your
contractor carefully.
Beware Of Contract "Weasel" Clauses
Even though some franchises offer a written guarantee, you should read it carefully for "weasel" clauses before you hand over your money. For instance, one franchise that offers a written warranty states that its up to the local franchisee to make good on the warranty and not the mother company. The warranty also states that the company will not pay for alternative methods like sanding to correct your peeling, blotching, cracking and chipping. If the local franchisee is incompetent, goes out of business, or looses the franchise, you're out of luck!
Why You Should Not Rely 100% On Commercial References
Also, beware of companies that list a lot of commercial references but very few consumer references. Reason? Commercial customers are always more concerned with the lowest price rather than the quality or longevity of the work performed.
Also, some high profile commercial customers will barter their goods or services for contracting work. Others will have work performed for free in exchange for giving the flooring contractor a glowing reference. So you should always demand at least 10 to 20 consumer references with phone numbers from companies that make outrageous claims about their no sanding process. Then check those references carefully.
